Game update As of October 2021:
we will recap last time notes: we will have everyone ask questions as to where we lkeft off and what were we doing.
The captain of the boat greets you all in person and tells you that he cannot wait any longer. He has agreed to take full responsibility for everyone who joins him on his way to another country.
With you leaving so suddenly you will be considered outlaws in baybridge. You may not ever want to come back to bay bridge, but who knows.
The captain understands that you are all worthy adventurers and coudl defeinitely use you to defend the ship like last time, but as is on any other ship...your safety is NEVER guaranteed unless you can fight for yourself.

You've arrived at Baybridge
known as the "The Castle City in the Sea"
The compass AKA Steve is pointing to the South west region, but unfortunately there is A travel Ban.
The local government officials have deemed it unsafe to be in the water while hostilities ensue with the Suhagin folk.
It seems that the party could help the issue by aiding as security while in peace talks with the suahagin. It didnt go well, there was a fight. The Mayor was struck, and [ret-con] is in critical condition.
You've come to understand that the (BJ system) is currently a seven person voting/justice committe, with the mayor as the 8th voter. The BJ's are asking for a special debreifing conference with the entire security team including your party. The question on everyone's mind.....WTF happened, what did you see. This is a problem and it has to be dealt with before the travel ban is lifted.
OTHER THIGNS of note:
The captain of your vessel is VERY pissed about this travel ban, he is loosing money every minute he is not on the water. There have been talks of him leaving despite the travel ban...his cargo is worth too much to him to stay. His crew has no problem setting sail. ALSO....the Compass/Steve is trying to goat the captain to get him to leave tonight.
Everyone is talking about The Local reporting agency BBC (baybridge connection) reporter Collin Sha 'res writes
"...NEW reports that the crisis known as the "BRACKISH" has recently moved closer inland. There are parts of shireton, lil-shireton, and khuldishul that have been effected.
Apparently this sudden and strong progressive movement inland has been happening for the last few weeks, but its been getting worse by the day.
We do know of course that Some estimate that the BRACKISH water used to be clear around some 300 years ago and every year the brackish gets darker and invades more and more space, but never has it done anything as noticeable and seemingly purposeful like this before. It appears that IT has begun to completely overtake parts of the land...
...some reports tell us that there have been sitings of black mist and steam after the brackish overtakes the land...as if it is being eaten, and dissolved as if it was acidic.
...Not much esle is known about this substance, but the brightye4st minds in ether have conveined and are currently studying the substance. We do know that recent tests being done in Khuldishul are tryign to determine whether or not the brackish is some form of ancient/evolved bacteria, or perhaps something else - The only problem is that they cannot contain the substance...it can only be studied from a distance, and for short time frames due to its incredible growth rate...some have resigned the fact that studying it is even possible, however there are still several teams that have not given up, and we thank them for their tireless efforts that will noty go unnoticed.
So we have to wonder...Will we ever find a way to rid ourselves of the brackish.?"

RECAP from prior game:
You (the players) arrived in the final elemental guardians lair. You faced a few trials getting there, but essentially you ended up on the top of a mountain, fought the air elemental and snake-like/dragon flying creature. The baron had fallen asleep. After the “Dragon “ is defeated…..The dark sky opens up, and the clouds descend…..you see the air elemental again… floating down from a cloud
….the opaque winds travel so fast, forming small tornado’s where his legs might be. The wind seems to whisper secrets in your ears, and for the first time you see into the golden eyes of the elemental floating closer and closer to you.
You can tell he means you no harm. He approaches you…..tears streaming down his face... you are drawn, and cannot look away from his eyes that glow a golden yellow. Their is now a phsycological and telpathical link between you and the air gaurdian.
Meanwhile, the other three gaurdians (on separetae clouds) appear behind him 20 ft away (as the air gaurdian approches you all) on seperate clouds. They bend their knee (and stay in their place) out of respect to the air gaurdian, who has been given Dominion over the sacred grounds, and the greatest power of all the gaurdians.
As you watch within the eyes of the elemental…you cannot look away , but you do know that he commands the Compass to his hand with the wind as the compass flys from the air wildly and lands in the hands of the air gaurdian.. he snatches it...waves his hands, and again whistles in the wind….this gesture opens up the compass, adds an actual needle in the middle, the blowing wind moves the needle around and a touch of gold surrounds the compass, the wind continues and passes dleicatley inside and aroudn the case, finally ending in a beautifully crafted (seasonal grass/stone/ground, wind, fire and water) golden etchings surounding the case of the compass, covered in glass, and delivered (by air mail) back into your satchel of whomever had it, slowly and delicately, with a rush of cool air.
A cool silver rain washes over everyone effectively healing them. Everyone is at full health and now at level 8......but even Still, you are fixated on the eyes of the air gaurdian, and you begin to see the story unfold.
*THE STORY IS TOLD*
Akai, the Bold God of fire,
Aoi , serene god of water,
Kiiroi, the calm god of Air,
Midori the Cheerful lush and fruitful God of land,
and Kuroi – the "Jack of all trades"
The Gods all resented Kuroi, because he had a little bit of every elements power, but he was opposite of the elementals, he was full of hate, wraith, despite, and deceit, but mainly because he was very strong all by himself. His personal attacks, hazing, hatefulness and selfishness were unwanted and not tolerated long before they had learned to stay together in order to out power him and show him they were much stonger than when they were together.
Soon they would come up with a plan to leave him all alone, but until then they endured the Malice of Kuroi. One day Kuroi crossed the line and threatened to take over their powers one by one…this wasnt a threat it was a promise. So they left him all alone.
“Where did akai go?” Kuroi asked the other three., to which they replied “I’m not entirely sure,” …this was not exactly a lie. They made it so no one of them knew where the other went, but a beacon would be activated, and they could find each other out in thw universe. This went on until no one was left but Kuroi.
Being a God. Kuroi he thought he would find them , but he could not.
The 4 Gods together were much too powerful for Kuroi. They were also careful planners that placed a tracking-barrier around themselves that triggered if Kuroi ever got close to finding them.
The 4 Gods were content to travel indefinitely. So they traveled to different planes, and different universes to keep away from Kuroi. This allowed them the freedome to live on other planes, and see how mortals actually lived on the day to day. Their mere being on another world woudl spark new magics, by gifting the lements to each place they spent time on. The Mortality insight shaped them into Good, benevolent, venerable Gods….and for a long time they lived in tranquility, living peaceful, mortal lives on other planes….being very careful not to use their powers…only when they saw fit, but using their powers was something they had to learn not to do. It was (sometimes) the most peaceful moments when the world just past by them...in all its original glory.
The 4 of them (at some point) decided that they (being GODS) should not truly live among the mortals for it was too much of a disappointment to....(at long last) lose everything and everyone you hold dear, but there was a simple beauty to mortality. They each had ideas of building a world where they could share and develop the tranquility and bounties that they have found traveling on the mortal realms throughout the centuries. And it was so… that they created their own world...far away from other realms...this place was SO beautiful that they called it “Ether” for its ethereal beauty.
They decided long ago that they would NOT be the “Intervining” type Gods, but they did want to protect the world from “He, who shall not be named.” So they chose their finest warriors and endowed them with elemental spirit and powers like the Gods. They would became the Gaurdians of this World, It woudl be their job to defend Ether (of it came down to it) from the sacred and celestial Shrine the Elemental Gods. The only thing about the gaurdians is that their safety is not gauranteed outside the shrine.

More information about the Main Story
You are told about how the infestation of the brackish is not just in your world...it has infected others. Several worlds have already been overtaken, and this makes sense because of how powerful the brackish has become.
The brackish is also a known (non-corporial) entity, to which is effectiveluy Kuroi's only way into the world of Ether. He must infect other worlds until he finds who and what he is looking for. You know that is is only a m,atter of time before Kuroi finds his physical foprm on Ether, and when he does...Ether is lost.
You are told about the (river of time) an energy source that flows forward to the present of Morden Khal's time line. You are told that Ether is essentially lost IF........you do nothing. Your only chance to save Ether and the rest of the infected worlds lyes with the forward river of time and insight from morden Khals timeline.
You know that one power stone is located on Ether, and that the power stones mey be located in different timelines and planes/worlds...So we dont know exactly where they are, which is why the compass is no important.
The last thing you did was take dwarmers feather/swan boat out of the celestial shrine of the elemental Gods (home fo the gaurdians) and were given directions thaT led you back around to a dock at Magi Island. The compass was traded over to Steve, and Steve became conscious and efftively was taken over by the compass. Steve Immediately found a boat master wiling to take everyone on their journey for a particualr price.
Q: There was a 600 dollar ride, and a 300 dollar ride? was that right?
You are given information about the compass
The Elemental Compass of Truth:
Description: This is a SACRED, LEGENDARY Artifact.
It is a Sentient artifact imbued with fire, water, Land and air elemental magic.
You can use this compass at any point to determine the location of the closest Elemental Power Stone, or you can search for a particular type of stone as well. You will be immediately focused on the closest stone.
The compass being sentient has wasy tof communicating with you, and will let you know if something or someone is a powerful being as it is drawn to beings and objects of great power.
You quickly notice that the wearer of the compass must simply become the compass and make checks to not be taken over as seen in last game.
Uses Other than a compass:
(In compass form) Absorb Magic: As an action (once per day) The wearer may call upon the compass to absorb elemental magic/power. If you use this on a magic item, it will take away the elemental magic aspect of the item, which can then be used by the compass….either by its current user/holder.
Sentient Communication: To communicate you must be holding the artifact. You may ask questions certain specific things that the elemental may have the answer to…..such as….elemental powers, the general location of the elemental power stones.
· It communicates via text, and may not respond to your question if you are not holding the artifact…..it may choose not to answer your questions at all depending on how you address it.
· It cannot lie to its wearer/user.
· Hidden power: ???
Automatic Attunment: If someone decides to WEAR THe compass.
If you decide to wear the compass
1) Make a saving throw...(DM to tells you what to roll)
with a failed roll The compass "Magically" tattoos itself to (The wearer's) neck, and the wearer becomes partially possessed by it. Meaning that during non combat You do not have control.
2) DM will roll 1d4 hours before you get control back.
3) With this posession the compass becomes the person. The tattooed possed wearer becomes focused on where they need to be, to go, obtaining transports. This possession gives the uncontrolled wearer a +4 to inititive, added to what it already is, and you are your own person still, but out of combat, your body and mind is controlled by the compass. Think of it like….you are still in there, but you are not driving anymore. Furthermore you become insistent that everyone follow you to the next task. Everyone who doesn’t follow you immediately must make a wisdom saving throw to determine whether or not they know whats going on…..upon fail, they know nothing, then it will be up to them. Upon a success the character knows that there is some kind of magic at work, and the compass has taken over the body of their friend.
